Sue Foxton and Kevin Davis to support the Board as Vice-Chairs
Chris White to lead GRCA Board for another term
Chris White, Mayor of Guelph-Eramosa Township and Councillor in Wellington County will continue in his role as Chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority for another term. He was acclaimed by the GRCA Board of Directors at the General Membership meeting on Friday, January 26, 2024. Sue Foxton, Mayor of North Dumfries Township, was acclaimed to the role of first Vice-Chair, and Kevin Davis, Mayor of the City of Brantford, was acclaimed as second Vice-Chair at the same meeting.
Elections are held for the positions at the first board meeting each year. The 26-member GRCA Board is comprised of representatives appointed by the municipalities within the Grand River watershed.
“Conservation authorities in Ontario have experienced unprecedented change over the past few years due to amendments to the Conservation Authorities Act and other provincial regulations,” says Chris White. “I look forward to continuing to provide leadership to the GRCA board, working with all levels of government and supporting GRCA staff as we continue to implement the changes.”
During the meeting, the Chair and Vice-Chairs shared their gratitude to their fellow board members, and enthusiasm for the year ahead.
“I am honoured to continue to work with fellow board members to support the work of the Authority in its vision of a healthy Grand River watershed,” says Sue Foxton.
“I have a keen interest in the river and the health of the watershed and look forward to working with all members of the Board to support the important work of the GRCA,” says Kevin Davis.
Chris White has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2014. He was elected to the Guelph/Eramosa Township Council in 2003, became Mayor in 2006 and served as Warden from 2011-2014.
Sue Foxton has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2015. She served for 14 years as Councillor for Ward 1 in North Dumfries Township before being elected as Mayor in 2014.
Kevin Davis has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2019. He was first elected as the Mayor of the City of Brantford in 2018 and served as a City of Brantford Alderman for Ward 2 from 1985 to 1991.
