GRCA workshops to focus on sampling soil fertility
Many factors go into farming success. Did you know soil fertility is one of them?
The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting two workshops in November to help agricultural producers and farm property owners better understand the benefits of soil sampling and soil fertility testing.
Jake Munroe, Soil Fertility Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), will be discussing how to interpret soil tests and how the use of these test results can help you make better farming decisions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the programs and resources available to help manage soil fertility and nutrient management. A free copy of OMAFRA’s Soil Fertility Handbook will also be provided to all registered participants.
The first workshop will be held on Monday, November 18 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the St. Jacobs Lions Hall (29 Parkside Drive, St. Jacobs). The workshop will be repeated on Wednesday, November 27 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Cayuga Mutual Insurance (23 King Street West, Cayuga).
Admission is free, but participants are asked to pre-register via email at ruralwater@grandriver.ca or call Sue Brocklebank at 519-621-2763 x2278.
