Previous Level 1 low water condition removed for the rest of the Grand River watershed
McKenzie Creek, Whitemans Creek and Lower Nith sub-watersheds move to Level 1 low water condition
Parts of Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Haldimand County and Norfolk County in the McKenzie Creek sub-watershed, and Oxford County and parts of Brant County in the Whitemans Creek and Lower Nith sub-watersheds, are moving to a Level 1 low water condition.
The movement to a Level 1 low water condition, from a Level 2 low water condition, came from the Grand River Low Water Response Team, which met in a conference call on January 29, 2026. The team considered several factors in the decision to move these areas to Level 1 including increased precipitation and stream flows, GRCA reservoir levels, snowpack and groundwater levels. Subsequently, low groundwater levels in several monitoring wells prompted the team to maintain the above-mentioned low water condition.
The previous Level 1 low water condition was removed for the rest of the Grand River watershed.
More information on the Ontario Low Water Response is available on the Low Water Response section of the GRCA website.
