The 2026 Brantford-Brant Children’s Water Festival educates students about water
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) in partnership with the City of Brantford and County of Brant, welcomed 1,400 grade 4 students from Brantford, Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River for the 2026 Brantford-Brant Children's Water Festival. The three-day event ran May 12 to 14, 2026, at Mohawk Park in Brantford, and featured more than thirty fun, interactive activities, each with a message about water. Activity themes included: water science, protection, technology, attitudes, and conservation.
“The goal of the event is to teach students about what they can do at home, at school or in their community to conserve and protect water,” says Maria Ramirez Giraldo, GRCA Conservation Specialist and festival coordinator. “The festival takes students out of the classroom, and gives them the opportunity to learn through play, interaction, and hands-on activity.”
There was no cost for students to attend the festival thanks to support from community partners including the Brant Community Foundation, Brant Waterways Foundation, City of Brantford, County of Brant, Grand Erie Public Health, Grand River Conservation Foundation, Ontario Clean Water Agency and MRC Wireless. More information is available on the festival webpage.
