Upcoming Public Information Centre for GRCA Flood Damage Assessment Study

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), the Town of Grand Valley, the Township of Amaranth, and Dufferin County are hosting a Public Information Centre (PIC) about the GRCA’s Flood Damage Assessment Study on June 22, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre (90 Main Street North, Grand Valley).

Beginning in 2022 and funded in part through Canada’s former National Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP), the GRCA conducted a Flood Damage Assessment Study for the communities of Grand Valley, Waldemar and Drayton.

The PIC will include a presentation of the results from the study for the communities of Grand Valley and Waldemar, as well as general information on riverine flooding, including emergency preparedness. This will be followed by an open house, where GRCA and municipal staff will be available to answer questions. All are welcome, and event registration is not required. Information regarding the study results for Drayton will not be covered at this PIC.

The results of this study will help the GRCA, the municipalities, and property owners better understand and quantify flood-related impacts in these communities and may be used in possible future studies to assess the feasibility of potential mitigation options to reduce flood damages.

More information about the study, and the PIC can be found on the GRCA website
