The fourth Haldimand Children’s Water Festival at the Grand River Conservation Authority’s (GRCA) Taquanyah Nature Centre will help 500 elementary school students splash their way to a better understanding of water: where it comes from, how we use it, and how we can protect and conserve it.

A prescribed burn is scheduled to take place at the FWR Dickson Wilderness Area on Spragues Road between April 30 – May 2. The exact date is not known, since the burn must take place when weather conditions allow. There must be several days of dry weather in advance of the burn, and there must be little to no wind on the burn day.

Changes are coming to Laurel Creek Park in Waterloo this spring that will allow visitors to enjoy the park year-round. Automatic gates are being installed at the gatehouse along with a small parking lot, and a trailer staging area.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), in partnership with the City of Brantford, is focused on helping grassland habitats make a comeback in southern Ontario. Grassland habitats support a number of grassland-specific bird species including the Eastern Meadowlark– a threatened species that has been recorded in and around the City of Brantford.
