GRCA and GRCF launch $50K campaign during Mental Health Awareness Month to support trails and natural areas
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) and the Grand River Conservation Foundation (GRCF) have launched the Trails to Wellness campaign, with the goal of raising $50,000 to support trail and land maintenance.
This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, the campaign will raise funds to care for the open trails and natural spaces across the Grand River watershed that support mental health, well-being and connection to nature. The GRCA maintains trails and areas that are free to use, providing welcoming natural spaces for people to experience the benefits of being outdoors. However, it does not have a dedicated revenue source to support trail maintenance and relies largely on donations to keep these areas maintained and operational for everyone.
Funds raised through the Trails to Wellness campaign will support essential work such as:
- repairing trail surfaces and addressing wear
- managing vegetation and maintaining trail conditions
- clearing debris and waste
- maintaining boardwalks, bridges, and crossings
“GRCA trails are open places to walk, reflect, and recharge,” says GRCF Chair Ted Smith. “The Foundation relies on donations to keep these spaces welcoming and well cared for. By supporting this campaign, you help ensure they continue to serve our communities and promote wellness.”
