Outdoor Education for Kids

"Many city children are nature deprived and have never met animals. They have no idea of the richness of our area and how to enjoy themselves outside not plugged into a screen. Exposing children to nature is an absolute must!"

– Teacher following a nature centre visit

“Simply put, this experience has changed my life…..you have helped me change my attitude towards work, towards nature and, more importantly, towards myself.”

– Student after a co-op placement at Laurel Creek Nature Centre

GRCA's Outdoor Environmental Education Program

When kids put down their screens and get outside, they learn about more than just nature. Whether it's through gathering around a campfire, playing the predator-prey game or observing and learning about wildlife, kids discover the beauty and wonder of the nature world.

Many kids no longer have opportunities to connect with nature and the outdoors. That's where the GRCA's Outdoor Environmental Education Program makes a real difference. Offered at five nature centres, programs from kindergarten to high school offer students a hands-on chance to become tomorrow's ambassadors for our environment. These programs create a lifelong appreciation of the environment. Find a Centre near you.

Help us Make Connections

By making a donation, you are supporting the development of our next generation of environmental ambassadors. The Grand River watershed continues to grow and evolve, and there is increasing pressure on its natural systems. There has never been a more important time to foster these connections.

Make it Monthly

Monthly donations make a real difference. $10 helps support ten students each month learn about our environment - and themselves - at a GRCA nature centre. This is a great investment in our planet's future!
