GRCA Strategic Plan
The Grand River watershed continues to face rapid population growth, the escalating impacts of climate change and increasing pressure on natural systems. During the past several years, the GRCA has undergone significant organizational change, driven by legislative and regulatory reforms, as well as by the retirement of several key staff members. The Authority has met these important changes with clarity, purpose and commitment.
Our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan provides the framework for our organization to address the emerging issues of the watershed and establish a solid foundation for the next five years. It reflects our priorities, values and ongoing commitment to innovation, stewardship and collaboration with our municipal, First Nations, community and government partners.
Our Commitment
We focus on teamwork, engagement, customer service and positive change:
We provide a wide range of programs and services in engineering, planning, water and land management, outdoor recreation and environmental education. Our staff teams are well trained and committed to serving public needs. We maintain an innovative and positive work culture, where knowledge is freely shared.
Our Strategic Pillars
-
Protecting life and minimizing property damage from flooding and erosion
-
Improving the health of the Grand River watershed
-
Connecting people with the environment through outdoor experiences
-
Building a future-oriented organization
The Plan will be reviewed and updated as needed to reflect shifting realities and priorities, and progress will reported to the GRCA Board and the community on an annual basis. For more information, read the July 16, 2025 news release, and the May 2025 or June 2025 GRCA Board reports.
