Priority Projects

The GRCF and the GRCA work together to identify priority projects that would otherwise not happen without the support of generous donations from the community.

New Guelph Lake Nature Centre - Nature At Your Doorstep!

The new Guelph Lake Nature Centre officially opened its doors on September 4, 2025. The new facility, surrounded by learning grounds that include nature trails, forest play areas, pollinator gardens, an Indigenous tea garden and water features, will replace the existing nature centre that has operated in a repurposed house since 1982. The Centre is located within the Guelph Lake Conservation Area and will serve not only as a learning space for students, but will also provide new opportunities to develop programs for visitors and the community.

Trees and Trails: Give Grand

It doesn't take a grand investment to make a Grand gesture. A donation of $30 or more will support trees and trails within the Grand River watershed and help maintain our greatest natural assets.

Outdoor Education for Kids

Staff holding Blandings turtle found by class at nature centre

Every year about 30,000 young people take part in our Outdoor Environmental Education Program. For some, it's their first time seeing what lives in the woods or discovering the comfort of being surrounded by nature. Donors play a big role in enabling as many kids as possible to have these hands-on experiences that shape their relationship for a lifetime.

Donate to help kids get outside!

Other Priority Projects Include:

  • FWR Dickson Trail expansion/enhancements
  • Habitat restoration/enhancements on GRCA properties in Guelph and Cambridge
