Portions of the Grand Valley Trail at Belwood Lake are temporarily closed for forestry operations. This impacts portion of the trail and surrounding forest plantations that run parallel to Wellington Rd 19 between Belwood and Third Line. Closures are expected to last until approximately February 15, 2023. Signs are posted where trails enter impacted areas. During recent water testing at Conestogo Lake Conservation Area samples revealed levels of arsenic and sodium that exceed limits identified in the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standard. As a result of these findings, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has issued a Drinking Water Advisory for an exceedance in arsenic and sodium.
The ruins of the Harris & Co. Rockwood Woolen Mill remain closed due to potential safety concerns.
Due to weather events in 2017 and 2018, the low level bridge at Elora Gorge Conservation Area was damaged by high water flows and remains closed indefinitely.
